As an undergraduate, Mr. Eiten acquired 3 years of experience in research including limnology, freshwater ecology and sustainability, raptor predator-prey interactions, and fisheries management. Since graduating, most of Mr. Eiten’s experience has been in fisheries management. He has 2 years of experience as a certified Fisheries Observer in the North Pacific Groundfish and Halibut Observer Program. Additionally, he was tasked with collecting fisheries data aboard commercial fishing vessels for the National Marine Fisheries Service in the Bering Sea, Aleutian Islands, and Gulf of Alaska fisheries. Mr. Eiten was also tasked with identifying and collecting bird and marine mammal specimens that were incidentally taken by commercial fishing gear.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”20″ image_repeat=”no-repeat”][vc_column_text]As an Environmental Scientist with SMITH, Mr. Eiten mitigates noxious weeds as a Certified Pesticides Operator for the Colorado Division of Agriculture; works in the field surveying migratory birds for clients to provide proper management in compliance with the Migratory Bird Treaty Act; and works hands-on to manage Prairie Dog populations which includes live relocations, surveys, trapping, and euthanasia of Prairie Dog colonies. Outside of SMITH, Zach is an avid outdoorsman, mountaineer, climber, and photographer.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][/vc_row]
